Gloucestershire Universities Women’s Phoebe Brooks now believes “100% that we’ve got this close we all really want to finish the league undefeated.”
The second team are “definitely nervous for Wednesday’s game, but we’re all determined going into it.”
The mentality of everyone in the club is on point and “you can tell everyone is training harder and is more focused”.
After three years at the club, Brooks exclaimed that “it would be incredible to win it in my last season.”
Brooks is determined “to go into it with a positive mindset as that’s whats helped us play so well as a team throughout this season,

“The team has changed so much over the years but the group we have now is so strong and is such a nice environment and it would be amazing to go out on a high with them all.”
Going into Wednesday’s clash, Brooks reflected on the previous fixture because: “the last time we played UWE (The University of the West of England Bristol), it was a bit of a brutal game, they played very dirty and we got a few injuries which we really don’t want a repeat of during the league.
We are definitely capable of beating them though and have trained hard all season to hopefully see that happen and reach our goal of winning the league.”
The University of Gloucestershire’s Women’s side have struggled with inconsistency with the amount of games played due to postponements which have led to large breaks in between games and “I think it does affect the momentum.
“It’s good to have breaks in between games to train and recover injuries but games being moved around and postponed really messes with the mindset of the squad but I think we have managed it brilliantly”.
Brooks is “very confident in our team’s ability to win on Wednesday, UWE are strong but we have only gotten better as the season has gone on, learning in training and in games to work as a cohesive unit, so it will be a hard game, but i believe in us, and hopefully we can get the job done”.
From the form that the team have been in this season, the 22-year-old feels that “Women’s football has really thrived this season at the uni and its been so exciting to watch, the squads have never been more full of talent and the atmosphere is so supportive and it’s really pushed us all to play our best.”
As a University, “football has had an incredible season so hopefully next year they get lots more interest and attention and that can hopefully grow the club so the future is looking bright.”
