This Wednesday the University of Gloucestershire Women’s Football 2’s will look to extend their unbeaten start to their Aldi Women’s Western Tier 3 campaign.
UOG will make a short trip down the M5 to face the University of West England’s 2’s at Lockleaze, as they continue to push for the league title, sitting just six points off league leaders Cardiff with two games in hand.

Glos winger and player of the match in their last game Grace Edwards determinedly highlighted her side’s aims;

“With the title in sight we have a chance to do really well this week and get a win, to just move that one step closer to what at the start of the season felt impossible.
“We feel like the last game we played against them didn’t go according to plan and we’re eager to come into this fixture at full strength.”
Last time the sides faced, UWE handed Glos their only loss this season in a 3-0 defeat away in the cup, giving the side something to prove later this week.
This season has seen a remarkable turnaround for UOG’s 2nd team as they had lost every game in the season prior, a stark contrast to their current form.
Edwards emphasised the squad’s cohesion and hard work that has led to this reversal of fortune;
“We have a lot of the same players as last year, we do have some new additions with freshers coming in and providing great input to the team, but we’ve had a year’s practice playing as a team and that has really helped.
“This second season together it’s been small things like knowing everyone’s names, whereas a couple of games last season nobody was necessarily fully aware of that, and knowing how each other play that has really set us apart from most team’s we’ve faced.”
