The Champions League quarter-finals for this year’s competition have officially been completed with the only English sides remaining in Manchester City and Chelsea both facing tough hurdles in their quest to make it to Istanbul.
Graham Potter’s Chelsea side face a tough battle against Spanish juggernauts Real Madrid who knocked out Liverpool earlier this week in a 6-2 thrashing. There’s no doubt Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti will be searching for his fifth Champions League title when his team come up against his former employers.
Manchester City also have a huge task ahead of them with boss Pep Guardiola also facing his former employers in German champions Bayern Munich. City who are seeking their first Champions League crown in the clubs history, are likely to be favourites against Bayern, however the German side have a decorated history in this tournament and backed it up by knocking out an all-star outfit in Paris St Germain. It’s safe to say the Germans can never be under-estimated in any circumstance.
Other quarter-final ties include Inter versus Benfica and AC Milan taking on fellow Serie A side Napoli. Champions League semi-finals were also announced and will see – AC Milan/Napoli v Inter/Benfica and a blockbuster tie between Real Madrid/Chelsea v Man City/Bayern.
