The second round draw of the FA Vase has been made with three Gloucestershire based teams involved in the action, and two facing each other.
Cinderford Town are making the trip to Leicester as they have drawn Midland League Division One side Birstall United.
Cinderford’s record finish in the FA Vase came last season as they reached the third round, before bowing out to AFC Stoneham 3-0.
The pick of the bunch from a Gloucestershire angle is the clash between Cirencester Town and million-pound lottery winners Longlevens AFC, which will take place on Saturday 31 October.
Cirencester’s best finish was also the third round of the competition, where they lost to Tividale United 3-0 in 1976-77.
Longlevens, who have just won the lottery for £1 million and take part in the Hellenic League Premier Division alongside Cirencester managed to reach the second round of the FA Vase once before in 2023/24, and they will be desperate to better that achievement.
The two sides are separated by just two points in their division, with Cinderford sitting in sixth and Longlevens in 10th.
Cirencester Town assistant manager Sam Farr is looking forward to the chance to progress in front of their home fans.
“I’m just happy to be at home to be at home to be honest with you, we’ve had eight or nine draws across the cups and we’ve been away for them all.
“It would be nice to play a team we don’t normally play but to have an all Gloucestershire tie will hopefully bring a few fans through the gate.”
“The fans have been unbelievable for us whether we’ve travelled to Worcester or Dorset so I have no doubt that there’ll be more fans to support when Longlevens come to town.”
He’s also expecting his side to be able to deal with all of the noise that will come with Longlevens and their recent lottery win.
“Firstly congratulations to them I think it’s unbelievable but we’ll try and block the noise out of the millionaires being in town and focus on getting a result on the 31st.”
