A fall at the final hurdle of the Turners Novices’ Chase handed victory to Bob Olinger and Rachael Blackmore.

Fortunately, Townend and his horse were ok, and Townend recovered to add a third win on Thursday with Allaho in the RyanAir Chase.

His trainer Willie Mullins, who holds the record for the most wins at Cheltenham Festival, has also extended his tally to 82 wins.

Although Townend and Vauban are heavy favourites, Pied Piper beat Vauban by half a length at Punchestown in December.

Pied Piper’s jockey is also Jack Kennedy, who rode Minella Indo to glory in the 2021 Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Willie Mullins also has two other horses racing with Icare Allen and Mark Walsh (14/1) and Danny Mullins and Il Etait Temps (20/1).
