BREAKING: Gloucestershire based professional Boxer Jay Pitman announces opponent for next bout

Jay ‘The Kid’ Pitman has exclusively announced that he will be fighting Jake Pollard, from Bradford, in his second ever professional fight.

The 19-year-old up and coming boxer has Pollard in his sights, a well respected fighter who fought live on TNT Sports, just under a year ago. At 32-years-old, the Bradford born boxer doesn’t have the greatest record, with 81 losses and one victory, but Pitman still has a job to do, and it won’t be an easy one to say the least.

“He is someone who has boxed people from my boxing gym and has also boxed a few of my friends too, so we know a lot about him. He is a tough, tough opponent and I am expecting it to be a good, hard fight, but yes I just can’t wait to get in there really.

“I am always counting down the days to a fight, I would do it every day of the week if I could, boxing in front of that many people felt so special and like I said, I cannot wait to get in there and do it all over again.”

Pitman is currently unbeaten at 1-0, after defeating Kiernan McAfee just three months ago, in a unanimous points decision win. He cruised through the four round fight, and ended the day with his arm raised by the referee, to the delight of the supporting crowd.

“My debut was good. Everything went to plan and I have been waiting for that day for so many years, so for it to go as well as it did, I couldn’t be happier with it.

“I’d like to stay undefeated. Obviously there is going to be some tough fights in the future, but the way I am training I would like to say that no one can beat me right now.”

‘The Kid’ is undergoing back-to-back professional fight camps with just 84 days between his debut and his second bout, which could end in a test of fitness and endurance in the lead up and during this fight.

“I have pretty much gone from one fight straight into another, so I am feeling fit one-hundred percent. It is something I love and I would fight every day of the week in front of a crowd if I could.”

“I fell into boxing through my Dad (Jon Pitman), and a lot of people think that I have been forced into boxing because my Dad is my coach, but it is not the case. I have tried other sports like football, but it just has not hit the same as boxing and it is as simple as that really.”

The fight is at MECA Swindon, Saturday November 30th, tickets available at www.neilsonboxing.co.uk
