Retired Olympic Diver Sarah Barrow on being named West Midlands Diving Development Officer and preparing facilities across the region

Former Olympic Diver Sarah Barrow has revealed her excitement at being named West Midlands Diving Development Officer in preparation for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in July 2022.

Speaking to Park Life Sport, Barrow, who was a two-time Gold medallist at the European Championships in 2012 and 2014, explained what her job as Development Officer entails: “As Development Officer, my job is to help inspire young divers to achieve their dream and it is something I’m committed to now and beyond the games in July.”

Barrow also spoke on the state of diving facilities in the West Midlands, saying: “There are five pools in the region with diving facilities – one in Solihull, one in Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Ludlow and Shrewsbury.  

Barrow also says the project will allow for connections with local schools and communities in the area in the hope of getting the new generation involved in the sport.
