“We’re coming back with a vengeance” University of Gloucestershire Rugby Union hooker Noah Jenkins on Varsity 2022

The University of Gloucestershire (UOG) Mens Rugby Union team are looking to avenge their loss to the University of Worcester during last years meeting, losing by 40 – 15.

Until last year UOG had won the last four meetings between the two sides, but lost the most important fixture of their season against old rivals Worcester.

Since joining UOG in 2019, Jenkins has been selected in the Varsity training squad for the past three seasons. His first Varisty attempt came to an unfortunate stop due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, but was able to make his debut for the university during last years campaign.

“I’m ecstatic about making the varsity training squad for my third year in a row. After a disappointing result last year it’s good to be able to go to Worcester and have the opportunity to get our win back.”

Jenkins believes the strength and depth in this years squad will benefit them come game time. This season the Rugby Union team have fielded two quality competitive teams, making the competition for shirts this year even more fierce.

“The 32-man squad is the biggest we’ve ever picked and there is competition for every position which is only good for the boys.”

In keeping with traditions the squad have started their drinking and going out ban as of today in order to put their best foot forward to avenge last years loss.

“Our training camp kicked off this morning and it was great to see so many big sweaty boys pumping iron in the gym. Our game against Exeter this week will be a great stepping stone into camp, the next 6 weeks will be a challenge but a welcome one.”

The venue for this years fixture is still to be announced, but in previous years the away fixture has been held at Premiership Rugby outfit Worcester Warriors ground, Sixways Stadium.
