Outsider Langer Dan stole the headlines at Prestbury Park in the third race of the afternoon, fighting off stern competition to pip the impressive Camprond at the death.
It was the black and yellow colours of Watch House Cross who led the field with just 3 fences to jump, but Jockey Tom Skelton rode home in first place, watched on by his delighted trainer, and Tom’s brother, Dan.
Ahead of the race, it HMS Seahorse was Run for Oscar and Captain Conby who were the bookies favourites, but Langer Dan ran home as winner by a nose.
This race followed the thrilling 14:10 race that saw The Real Whacker take victory.
Harry Skelton was thankful of those around him helping him to this point.
“Dan trained him for perfection. He loves a race like that. There is so much that goes into this, it means the world to these guys.
“This woman here coming in, Amber, she looks after our yard, she’s done an unbelievable job to keep him right. Amber we knew it!”
