“We’ll be going there positively, we’ve all got each others backs” – University of Worcestershire rugby player Caisey Maker on Varsity

Caisey Maker is postive ahead of Worcester’s women’s rugby encounter with the University of Gloucestershire on Tuesday March 19th at Plock Court in Gloucester.

Worcester came out on top last year with a 21-14 win at Sixways Stadium, Worcester’s front row, Maker, is keen to get to the occasion.

“I took part last year when Worcester won so it was good with the atmosphere. We’ve got a really strong team this year, our captain Demi is a real team leader and she loves using her voice,” she said.

“We’ve only just finished our league games, we’ve had a few sessions this week that we’ve got to prepare, with S&C (strength and conditioning) which has really helped us with team bonding.”

“We’ll be going there positively, we’ve all got each others backs.”

Maker was elected as financial admin in September at the University of Worcester, she gave an insight into how it all came about.

“We did an election at the start of the year, we went through a voting process where the girls from the team voted for different postions outside of rugby, I like helping out with admin and with the Student Union.”

Now in second year, Maker will be clashing against her teammates at Cheltenham Tigers, which she plays on Saturdays.

“I play with quite a few of them on the weekend, Amy Boswell, Madi Williams, it’s quite a friendly experience off the pitch, on the pitch it’s very competitive.”

Maker has sent a message to the travelling Worcester fans who will be making the short trip to Gloucester.

“Bring all the support you can, we want to hear the Worcester voice, our campaign is #hergametoo, it looks at women in male-dominated sports,” she said. “It was a close game last time round, Worcester will win, i can see us scoring in the 20s.”
