In a dramatic race, Captain Guinness won the feature race on the Wednesday of the Festival to deny Willie Mullins a 100th winner at the Festival.
At the fifth fence El Fabiolo, who jumps uniquely, trailed a hind leg through the fifth fence and was taken aback, and jockey Paul Townend decided to pull him up.
As the race developed, the four-strong field headed down the hill led by Edwardstone, with Captain Guinness waiting on a patient ride from Rachael Blackmore.
Despite idling in front after the last, Captain Guinness managed to get up on the line, beating Willie Mullins’ second horse Gentleman De Mee.
