Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway has slated his team’s performance after their 1-0 defeat to Crewe Alexandra, blaming the club’s ‘crisis’ with injuries.
The Robins sit in 17th in League Two and have lost four of their last five league games, with the pressure beginning to build on the veteran manager who’s desperate for his side to get a goal, as they have only scored two goals in their last seven games.
“I can tell them where they went wrong, where they should be but it’s on them and they need a goal.
“They need to get on the move and all it takes is a positive mindset from someone who is ready to come on and make a difference.
“We keep letting goals in and it’s a terrible trait to have.”
Holloway is no stranger to a relegation battle and having been relegated three times throughout his career and surviving numerous scares, he knows what it takes for his team to turn it around.
“Plenty of work is needed on the training ground and we need to get used to each other.
“Out wide we need natural wingers and (Joe) Hungbo’ s out at the minute and he’s the only one we’ve actually got, Danny Butterworth is getting fit again and I don’t expect him to have 10 months out and be as smooth as he normally is.
“Hopefully there will be no injuries but it’s nothing to do with that, whoever comes in has got to be ready to fight until the end, I really didn’t like the end of that game.
Swindon Town had seven confirmed injuries on Saturday and others returning to fitness, but Holloway doesn’t want to use this crisis as an excuse.
“It’s very difficult when you can’t train hard and you have to watch his minutes and other things but that’s excuses and I’m not having it.
“We had a chance today and we didn’t look like we believed in ourselves enough did we?
“Let’s show them where they went wrong and let’s put it right at our home match next week.”
