Gloucester defeated Bristol Bears in a nail-biting game 44-41, where George Barton’s penalty made the difference at Ashton Gate.
Following the game Bristol Bears’ Director of Rugby Pat Lam was not completely satisfied with the result, but praised their opponent.
“First of all, it’s a good game of rugby in the sense of the neutral and both teams wanting to play.
“Right on to Gloucester, to George [Skivington] particularly. I think, he’s, as I said last week in the lead up to the game, he’s brave enough to keep going and changing after last year.”
One thing the director underlined was that they will revisit the calls the referee made, that ended up hurting Bristol as Gloucester could capitalise when they received to yellow cards.
“It wasn’t ideal, both are yellow cards. That’s, something we got to look at closely and have a look.”
The Bears found themselves behind after opening the scoring, as Gloucester’s Christian Wade scored a hat-trick of tries, but they could equalise in the 75th minute thanks to Richard Lane.
“Fair play to the boys, they worked their way back into it and we got even with a few minutes to go.
“It’s disappointing, we’ve got two points, we’ll look at ourselves most importantly first and there’s some things there the boys aren’t too pleased about, but fair play for fighting back.”

He continued: “I think it’s far better than 6-3 games, 9-6 games and, that’s the way I feel about it. But, you know, we were on the wrong end of it this time.”
Bristol are now in third place with seven points on the table, and will play one of the two undefeated team left in the competition, their rivals Bath Rugby away, next weekend.
“It’s one that we always enjoy, the fans enjoy, we know how important that is. They’re obviously doing well. So looking forward to that.”
