“Worst performance yet” – Gloucester City Manager Dafydd Williams on Uxbridge defeat

“That’s the worst we’ve been in terms of performance levels,” Manager Dafydd Williams said, expressing his disappointment following his team’s 4-3 loss to Uxbridge on Saturday.

The Tigers now find themselves seven points off top spot, chasing league leaders Walton and Hersham. A strike from Ada Okorogheye in the 94th minute denied Gloucester a point on their travels.

“We’ve dropped points in five games now, and I think that’s the worst we’ve been in terms of performance levels and intensity,” Williams stated.

“I’ve got to take accountability as well; we should be priding ourselves on no excuses. Also, you know there was a lot going on in that game that massively shifted the momentum of the game. But we got to look at ourselves, the players, staff, and me. We just weren’t at it today.”

Gloucester City Centre half Ben Richards-Everton was sent off after receiving a second yellow card, and Williams argued strongly against the decision.

“It’s not a penalty, He (Ben Richards – Everton) should have never been sent off. It looked from where I was a perfectly good tackle ”

Despite coming home empty-handed, new signing Kane Simpson opened his account for the Tigers eight minutes into the match and manager Williams was pleased for the forward.

“Yeah, obviously it’s a great start. A goal on his debut – he’ll be pleased with that on a personal note. But ultimately, it’s not about any sort of individual today. It’s about us as a squad; we will regroup after a disappointing day.”

Gloucester will look to bounce back on the weekend as they host welcome Havant and Waterlooville at the KMM Energy Stadium.
