West Brom Women full-back Ella Haughey ‘buzzing’ after convincing FA WNL Cup win over Stoke City

West Brom Women secured their place in the next round of the FA Women’s National League Cup with a 2-0 victory over Stoke City at the Alexander Stadium.

Full-back Ella Haughey praised her team, highlighting their strong first-half performance and resilient second-half display against the Potters.

“Yeah, buzzing, the girls did really well first half, we came out and we were flying, two quick goals and then second half, it was just protect the lead, and I thought we’d done well,” said the 21-year-old.

“If you don’t concede, you can’t lose, so we’re buzzing. Charlotte Clarke has been brilliant when she’s come in, and the back line, the attackers, and the midfielders have been putting in a shift, so we’re glad to see it come off.”

The Baggies face a busy rest of October with several games coming up, but Haughey is relishing the challenge.

“I think we’re just going to take every game as it comes,” said Haughey.

“Everyone says it, but we really have to. We’ve got the FA Cup, the County Cup – we want to retain those, go far in the FA Cup, and, of course, stay high in the league.”
