Gloucester City manager Daf Williams admits to frustration over scheduling after another game on Monday night against Bracknell Town.
After City’s late win on Saturday against Sholing through a Harry Pinchard penalty, the Tigers sit second in the league with 23 points after only 10 games, behind Walton & Hersham.
Their opponents, on the other hand, sit bottom of the league with five points after only nine matches played and zero points in their last three games.
“It’s ridiculous, they’re asking the lads to go on Saturday, Monday again, but it is what it is,” Williams said.
Bracknell Town appointed their new manager, Matthew Saunders, on September 12.
“They’ve got a new manager, they’ve got a lot of different players. I don’t think the result went their way today, so they’ll be hoping to bounce back on Monday.
“We’ve got to be ready for that, but first and foremost, we’ve got to rest and recover. We’ll go there with every intention to win the game.”
Centre back Ben Richards-Everton is expected to make his return to the team after an injury-ridden season so far. He trained with the squad before the match on Saturday.
“He’s not far at all. We used the warm-up today as a part of his rehab and recovery. So it’s another day of training for him.
“He trained twice a week, so he’s not far off now.”
The match on Saturday saw Joe Hanks subbed in the 52nd minute after what seemed to be a shoulder injury for Sopuruchuckwu Obieri, who has been vital for City off the bench.
“That’s what he does, I played him in a slightly different position for a couple of minutes before that, he’s effective in two or three different areas of the pitch, so he’s a great asset to the football club,” the City manager said.
The game starts at 7:45pm tonight at Bottom Meadow, or if you don’t want to make the trip down, they are showing the game at New Meadow Park at the bar.
