Jared Thompson will be looking to forget Saturday’s result after conceding 7 goals against Boston United. The goalkeeper had a good start to life at Gloucester City in comparison to previous keepers so will be looking to move on quickly.
“It’s been tough” The keeper started. “I joined with the club already poor position and we had been in a good run of form (before Saturday) and trying to keep spirits high ahead of the last few games.”
Thompson has a wealth of experience playing in the Conference League, in the EFL and abroad and is hoping to bring that to Gloucester City: “Cookie rang me (Mike Cook) and asked me to come in and hopefully bring something to the team, he was very clear with how the team are currently with the relegation battle and I wanted to help.”
Jared spoke on his time abroad playing for FC Midtjylland in Denmark: “Playing abroad was fantastic, I’ve been at a few clubs now and I’ve enjoyed it a lot, the different cultures and support has been amazing.”
“The support out here despite where the club is right now in a relegation battle has been great and they are still getting behind the boys”.
The Goalkeeper already knew some of his teammates ahead of joining the relegation destined side: ” It’s been a easy transition I already knew some of the lads from former teammates to playing against them and those who I didn’t know have welcomed me it’s a pretty solid team and we are still hoping to turn it around.”
Gloucester City face top of the league Tamworth on Tuesday evening and will be hoping to rally a performance as the season nears it’s end.
