“We are fighting for our lives” – Cinderford Town manager Matthew Driscoll ahead of tonight’s fixture against Helston Athletic at Kellaway Park

Matthew Driscoll has emphasised the importance of each fixture for Cinderford Town, declaring that “every game is a must win.”

Relegation-threatened Cinderford Town take the 426 mile round trip to Cornwall as they look to pick up three important points on the road against Helston Athletic.

The Foresters sit bottom of the table and have evidently struggled with the season in the Southern League Division One South after their hard-earned promotion from the Hellenic League last campaign.

The last time both sides met, the Blues were the side to take away the three points after a goal from Jack Cargo 15 minutes in, and despite their efforts, The Foresters side were unable to secure any points at home.

The 44-year-old stated that they are heading into the game optimistic after their 2-2 draw against Exmouth Town on Saturday.

“If we put in a performance like we did against Westbury United and Exmouth Town, which was a great performance,  I’m sure we will give them [Helston] a real good go,” he stated

“I’m hoping that we keep the momentum going after our good result on Saturday.”

The hosts have also struggled since their promotion last year and sit one point clear from the relegation zone, and having only won five games so far this 24/25 season, every game is a must to try and push themselves towards safety.

However, there isn’t much time left for Driscoll’s side, with the Foresters having two back-to-back long journey’s upcoming, as they also face Tavistock this saturday.

But despite that, Driscoll’s side still have the energy to put in a fight to try and stay in the Southern League.

“It’s going to be tough, because it’s a four hour journey.  We just need to go and put on a good performance, which I’m sure we will.

“We are fighting for our lives as well, they know we are coming with a massive fight.

“Even a draw, it’s not a great result for us as they are around us on the table and we need to pick these games in hand to get the three points.

“Every game is big now, and tonight is a must win,” he said adamantly.
