Cheltenham Town manager Steve Cotterill has insisted his side will not become complacent as the EFL League Two season enters its closing stages.
Cheltenham Town sit 18th in League Two with a tally of 38 points after 35 games. The Robins sit 10 points above the relegation places. With 11 games to go, Cotterill has explained that his players will not be letting up, despite the fact that a huge amount of stress has been on them this season.
Cotterill’s side will be making the journey to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday to face the 17th-placed side at the Croud Meadow. The Shrews sit just three points above the Robins, having played an extra game.

Theoretically, Cotterill’s side is not in a bad position heading into the final run-in. But they’ll be taking no chances in the hope of not being dragged into a relegation battle.
“When I came here for the first month or so, journalists interviewed me, and everybody thought we were relegated, dead and buried. And you know what? We could have been.
“I don’t think this season there’ll be any complacency. Do I think that if we stay up, if that’s the case, and hopefully so, there’s a drop? Maybe that could happen. The players have been under so much pressure all season.
“So that could easily happen through human nature because of the stress and duress that they would have been under every week going out there, sometimes twice a week, sometimes three times a week.”
The Robins drew 2-2 with Barrow on March 6 (pictured), before they had the same result away at Fleetwood on Tuesday. Cotterill’s side are unbeaten since February 7.
Cotterill continued: “But we’re not at that stage at the moment. After having four points when I came in, to be where we are now, we look at the five draws (from the last six) that we just had, big five points that.
“It’s just about staying focused, keeping our heads down, not making any silly comments and just concentrating on the job at hand. And that’s the only thing I’ll be thinking about.”
