Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Nuno Espirito Santo has been relieved of his duties as Spurs’ head coach.
The north London club also revealed that Nuno’s coaching staff Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias have departed their roles at Spurs too.
Fabio Paratici, Spurs’ Managing Director of Football, said “I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision.
“Nuno is a true gentlemen and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”
Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester United proved to be the fatal blow for Nuno, with Spurs languishing in eighth place in the Premier League table.
After failing to persuade Antonio Conte to take over in the summer, there are strong rumours that Spurs will return to the Italian again, and try to bring the former Chelsea manager in, with the 52-year-old in London for talks today with the Tottenham board.
As for Nuno, the Portuguese boss’ pragmatic approach infuriated many Spurs supporters, with his ten game reign the shortest ever in Tottenham’s Premier League history.
