Michael Flynn‘s Cheltenham Town failed to impress The Robins fans once again after a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town at the EV Charger Points stadium on Saturday.
Boos rang around the stadium following the full time whistle, with the action continuing off the pitch as striker Matty Taylor was seen ‘offering fans out’ in a response to the fans abuse.
After five defeats from their first eight league games, Flynn’s managerial status is under serious threat with many fans sharing their thoughts on the Welshman on social media.
22-year-old James Crofts expressed his thoughts on Flynn so far: “Below my expectations, poor start to the season with no convincing performances at all. I understand it’s still early days as we are only eight games into the season but as each match passes I am losing faith in the manager and his team. It is obvious all fans feel the same from the boos and negativity towards the team on the pitch.”
“The main concern for me is the lack of any connection or attempt to connect with the fans. We know what we are as a club (we have small crowds & small budget) so we have to build that connection as our core. I know he’s been unlucky with injuries – but yesterday’s performance was terrible and he went straight down the tunnel. Come out & face up to the fans, show us that you care. I’m not sure he gets the club.” Kieran Mortell commented.

I asked The Robins fans whether they believed the appointment of Flynn at the start of the season was the correct decision or if they were sceptical.
Some fans were in agreement saying they were happy with the appointment, “I thought at the time it was not a bad idea in terms of managers available he was not a bad choice. Had a good time at Newport but in other jobs not too good, but for teams like Cheltenham getting safety this season for League Two level he’s got the experience.” said James Mumford.
The other half were sceptical following the announcement, Crofts added “Absolutely not! In my personal opinion they should have fought to keep Darrell Clarke from last season, but to be honest with the budget of Cheltenham I think it will be difficult to get any decent manager.
“I am more disappointed in the appointment of Aaron Downes and Garry Johnson. This is a perfect example of the board being to cheap to seek decent back room staff and instead get cheap Non-League quality that isn’t good enough. As fans we are getting more frustrated with the owners of the club and board of directors not putting money into the club and selling every bit of talent we got for some quick money.”
With Flynn’s role being a heated debate around Cheltenham, I asked fans whether they should back Flynn or if his time is up.
MF: "That was not good enough. I'll take the blame, I'm the manager. I'll rightly agree with the supporters and all I can do is offer a heartfelt apology for what we've seen today."#ctfc♦️

Colin Maltman got straight to the point: “Has to go. Although the players are massively to blame.”
Many fans were in agreement, “Time to go. Wade Elliot was backed for 11 games and it turned out to be too late to keep the team in league 1. The club is rotten and needs to go up for sale.” said Jack Cooke.
Mortell also gave his opinion: “In my opinion, there’s no point continuing down this road or we’ll find ourselves adrift. Sometimes all parties know if something isn’t right – this feels absolutely like one of those. Yesterday, Ashley Vincent was clearly the one driving any touchline instructions. Flynn looked as if he didn’t want to get involved, like he’d already given up. Why waste his time & ours? Move on for both before it gets really messy.”
