Nico de Boinville can’t stop smiling as he wins with Constitution Hill: “What a horse, we were just absolutely delighted”

Constitution Hill continues his unbeaten runs as he claims victory in the Champions Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and jockey Nico de Boinville couldn’t stop smiling once he came over the finish line.

After the race, he spoke to ITV Racing and said: “What a horse, we were just absolutely delighted, I didn’t think we were on too much going into the last, I thought it was going to go to pot, but heโ€™s come up out of my hand, loads left.”

He went on to add his gratitude for those involved with training Constitution Hill and how the work put in has allowed the performance to occur today: “Heโ€™s given me a terrific spin round. Delighted for the Michael, the Governor has done a fantastic job, Shauna who rides him every day, Jaden who looks after him, everyone at Seven Barrows.

“On a personal level itโ€™s been a dream of mine to get the big three and delighted Iโ€™ve achieved it.โ€

As the finish line approached, de Boinville was seen celebrating to the crowd and slowed down, whilst racers behind closed in, to which he could only apologise to those who “backed him for more than 10 lengths.”

Soon after the race had ended, trainer Nicky Henderson was asked about his prized racer to which he replied: “He is just remarkable.”
