Cheltenham Town welcome Lincoln City to the Completely-Suzuki Stadium on Tuesday night, as Wade Elliott’s side aim to record back-to-back league victories to lift themselves further away from the drop in League One.
Fresh from a morale boosting 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town at the weekend, spirits will be high in the camp, after Alfie May’s goal extended his side’s gap from the drop zone to four points.
We look at the key information that you will need to know ahead of the fixture, as the Robins aim to boost their survival chances.
In the hot seat: Mark Kennedy
The 46-year-old joined the club in May 2022, after manager Michael Appleton left following three years of service.
Kennedy is still in the infancy of his managerial career, having previously managed at Macclesfield Town – but his stint only lasted twelve games due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
He would leave the club following their relegation to the National League, after rejecting a contract offer in August 2020.
Key battle: Charlie Raglan vs Ben House
House has been a key component in the Imps’ success this season, netting eight league goals so far.
The 23-year-old joined the club from Eastleigh in January 2022, and despite a slow start to life at the club, he has found his feet in recent times at the LNER Stadium.
It is imperative that Charlie Raglan keeps the forward quiet if Cheltenham are to be successful in their pursuit of all three points, as House is central to a large amount of his side’s success.
The last time they played
Recent history doesn’t favour the hosts, with the last meeting between the two resulting in a 3-0 victory for Lincoln in April 2022.
A brace from Morgan Whittaker either side of an Anthony Scully goal would earn all three points for ex-Lincoln manager Michael Appleton.
The last meeting between the sides in Cheltenham came in December 2021, as Michael Duff’s side earned a 2-2 draw in the first League One meeting between the pair.
Form (Lincoln City)
The Imps have not lost a league game since January 7th, after the outfit conceded twice in a 2-1 defeat against Charlton Athletic.
The side have earned 15 points in nine games since then including a string of four consecutive draws.
One of those draws came at the hands of Forest Green Rovers. A fourth minute goal from Ben House was cancelled out by Jordon Garrick before the hour mark, as both sides shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
Mark Kennedy’s outfit again scored an early goal in their next game against MK Dons as Daniel Mandoiu scored in the fifth minute. The Dons equalised in the 89th minute through Paris Maghoma to deny Lincoln three points.
Cheltenham’s next opponent broke their run of draws with a win against relegation candidates Oxford United. Mandroiu’s first half penalty was enough to earn his side a victory against the U’s.
The result pushed the team 11th place in the EFL League One table, with at least a game in hand on the closest seven clubs below them.
