“It’s hard to put your finger on it, so to speak. It’s always difficult away from home,” midfielder Luke Young began after Cheltenham Town’s 2-0 loss away to Fleetwood Town.
While the Robins sit in 16th position and seem to avoid being in a relegation battle in League Two, the team’s away form has been worrying, having only one twice when being the visitors in the competition.
“You come to different places, tricky grounds, different surfaces and the home crowd plays a part, as we notice that when we play at home. But you need to find ways of winning, getting results and almost having that little bit more of a nasty edge about you away from home.
“Because at the end of the day, you’re never going to get it your own way. And it’s not got to be pretty, We’re here to win games of football and we need to kind of find different ways,” Young added.
On the other hand, the Englishman explained that manager Michael Flynn sees what needs to be fixed.
“Whether it’s personnel, formation, a way of playing. I don’t know, but the gaffer said it in there, he’s identified it to maybe try and look at.
“Trying to change something away from home, whatever that may be, to try and start getting results. If you want to be fighting for the playoffs, we’ve got to do a lot better.”

“[He is a] good asset, good physical presence in there. Likes to get forward. He likes to get on the ball as well and I think he’s seen a few highlights, he’s got an eye for goal as well, of arriving in the box. It adds another dimension to the midfield that we’ve had previously,” Young praised the latest loan addition.
“Whether he decides to play him deeper or a little bit higher up, not sure of what the gaffer sees his best position as. Hopefully he can kind of start pushing his way back in and you never know, he might come good for us.
“Hopefully he does and starts chipping a few goals and we start getting some more positive results than what we’ve already had previously,” Young concluded.
