King’s School in Gloucester won the Continental Tyres Under 18 School’s Vase yesterday afternoon, defeating King Edwards School (KES) of Birmingham 29-16 at Twickenham.
The Gloucestershire based school, where Gloucester Rugby head coach George Skivington‘s son is educated, scored two tries in the closing quarter of the match to take the spoils.
Head of Rugby Aidan Barr, who is also involved in the Gloucester academy setup, was delighted with his sides achievement.
He said: “I am immensely proud of these boys, they have worked so hard to get here and they thoroughly deserved to win because their attitude today epitomised everything that they have represented this season”.

King’s School and Gloucester Rugby have been linked for a long time, with King’s boasting three players in the Gloucester Under 18 squad who played Sale Sharks on Finals Day at Kingsholm last month.
In fact, Jimmy Boughton played in the first Gloucester Rugby match at Kingsholm whilst he was still a pupil at the school.
Joby was named player of the match in the game after getting himself onto the score sheet and was delighted to play at English rugby’s headquarters.
He said: “I feel incredibly lucky to have played at Twickenham, somewhere that I may never play again and I would love to thank everyone who made the trip across to support us.”
