It’s Down To The Wire As Reading Host Newport County For A Place Into The Knockout Stages Of The Bristol Street Motors Trophy

Cheltenham Town have already topped The Bristol Street Motors Trophy Southern Group H and it’s over to Reading and Newport County to battle it out for 2nd spot which would see either side through to the knockout stages.

Reading host Newport at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in this highly anticipated EFL Trophy clash.

Newport County come into this game having only won one in their last seven games, they sit fifteenth in Sky Bet League Two. As for the hosts Reading they sit ninth in Sky Bet League One having lost two of their last seven games.

Both sides beat West Ham U21’s, however both fell short against Cheltenham Town. Reading and Newport both sit on three points with just the one goal difference in favour of Reading.

This will be the two sides 92nd meeting. It’ll be the first time in over a decade of the fixture when the two teams met in Reading for the first round of the EFL Cup in which Reading came away 3-1 winners.

The Royals’ top goal scorer so far this season is youth graduate Sam Smith with five goals, as for Newport it’s Huddersfield loanee as well as the tallest outfield player in Britain Kyle Hudlin who stands at a staggering 6ft9.

The game kicks off at 19:00 tomorrow night at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
