“I’m staying hopeful for the Gold Cup” – How one bettor is beating the odds during the Cheltenham Festival

Cheltenham Festival has once again sparked a large surge in betting across the UK, with millions of pounds expected to be wagered during the final day of the week.

Whether it is at the festival or at the bookies watching on TV’s or using multiple betting apps available, people will be glued to the horses and hoping to walk away with some profit.

Many success stories have already been written about some punters turning double-digit bets into six figures.

Multiple betting hopefuls aspire to reach such heights.

There are many ways to give the average punter an advantage when selecting a winner; many use social media for betting tips. The accounts offer insight into the horses, their trainers and jockeys.

Any form of advantage can propel someone into thinking they will be a shoo-in for profit.

Brian Chivasa, 26, is one such hopeful.

He uses several accounts on X.com to use as insight into the races and potentially increase his odds of winning.

“I bet fairly often on other sporting events, but the Cheltenham Festival just brings a lot of people together for a single event. I feel that this helps bring the tipsters out.

“I know anyone can call themselves a professional tipster and get people to believe in what they’re selling But with the tips, I am winning.”

Chivasa continued: “I got started when a friend won £50 off a £5 bet. I asked him how he did it. He showed me a Twitter account he says he uses often.

“Then I suppose it kind of snowballed. I have notifications on my phone when specific accounts I trust more make a post online.

“During this year’s Cheltenham Festival, luck has just been with me. I’m staying hopeful for the Gold Cup.”

Tipsters have opened the door for Chivasa to allow him to create his own formula for the races in terms of tracking the stats in a way he can understand them better.

Through his previous work in admin related job, the South African native uses Microsoft Excel to track and manage stats.

With extensive research on multiple horses’ results, falls, speed, and injuries, jockeys, trainers and even weather preference. Chivasa believes he has given himself the edge to continue profiting from races.

Chivasa explained his methods extensively, revelling in his own creation.

“I’m actually up in terms of my bets for the Cheltenham Festival. I’ve been able to turn the £50 I started the race week with into £1200. For the final day, I’m looking to double it.

“I know it sounds optimistic and possibly dangerous to eat into my own profits, but I’ve already come this far. I’m going to put trust into my methods and see how much further it can take me”.
