Gaelic Warrior is the winner in today’s second race of Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival, taking home the Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices’ Chase, with Willie Mullins getting his 95th win at Cheltenham Festival.
The horse trained by Willie Mullins, stormed into the lead right at the end of the race with Paul Townsend as the jockey and found themselves well ahead of the other nine runners as they crossed the finish line. Gaelic Warrior was placed as the favourite with the bookmakers having the 6 year-old’s odds at 5-2.
This means that the owners took the main share from a prize fund of £175,000 at £98,472 after winning today’s second race.
Townsend told ITV Racing “This was as good as a race as I got from him, stamina came into play today. It’s a pressure week but hopefully we can keep on.”
Found A Fifty was runner up in the race, with Il Etait Temps coming third.
