With Squash being announced to feature at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, there is a chance a Cheltenham born play could be on the plane.
Nathan Lake was originally born in Cheltenham before moving to Chicago to pursue his squash career.
Despite being 31 now, and by the time the Olympics come round, he’ll be nearing 36. Lake is currently playing the best squash of his career, reaching a career high ranking last September, before just dropping two places in the world ranking, to where he sits 35th today.
Squash is one of five sports being added to the Olympics for 2028, the others being cricket, baseball/softball, lacrosse, and flag football.

It was just a month ago that Lake lost to fellow Brit Nick Wall in the final at the Charlottesville Open.
England’s best chance at a medal in the men’s compeititon could come from either brother’s Mohammed and Marwan El Shorbagy, where the former has reached as high as #1 overall in the world, while the later has reached three. Although with both above the age of 30, it could be a race against time.
However the the prospects in the woman’s competitions looks a lot brighter.
Georgina Kennedy is the reigning Commonwealth champion, and only 26 years of age, and is only looking to get better.
Kennedy currently sits at her career high of sixth in the world, and also became the first ever English woman to be crowned Commonwealth champion when she beat Canada’s Hollie Naughton last year.
