Cheltenham Festival: 2:50 Ryanair Chase – Allaho, Paul Townend and Willie Mullins clear favourites

Allaho is by far odds on favourite to win the third race of the day at Cheltenham with jockey Paul Townend looking to record his third victory of the festival.

Meanwhile closest rival according to the bookies is Conflated ridden by Davy Russell and trained by Gordon Elliott as the trainer looks for his third triumph of the festival.

The race is 2 miles and 4 furlongs long and a Grade 1 Class 1, as nine horses run with the going at the racecourse currently soft.

December 5 2021 – 1st @ Punchestown, Chase, 2m4f

Allaho is the clear bookies favourite heading into the third race of the day and is hoping to replicate his win for the Ryanair Chase for the second consecutive year.

Townend and Mullins are in stellar form after yesterday’s races, with five wins between them.

Conflated (D Russell) recent form

February 5 2022 – 1st @ Leopardstown, Chase, 3m

December 4 2021 – 1st @ Navan, Chase Handicap, 2m4f

October 25 2021 – 2nd @ Wexford, Chase, 2m7f

Davy Russell is looking to record his first win after finishing second with Three Stripe life in Wednesday’s 1:30 race, whilst Elliott who won twice yesterday is looking to record his third victory of the festival.

Melon (P Mullins) recent form

February 19 2022 – 1st @ Gowran Park, Chase, 2m4f

December 28 2021 – 4th @ Leopardstown, Chase, 3m

December 5 2021 – 3rd @ Punchestown, Chase, 2m4f

A bit of an outsider trained by Willie Mullins and jockeyed by his son Patrick; the horse is 10 years old but with that family duo anything can happen and Melon could cause an upset if Allaho falters.

Odds (Bet365)

Allaho – 4/6

Conflated – 7/1

Shan Blue – 11/1

Melon – 16/1
