Shakem Up’arry has won The Plate Handicap on day three of the Cheltenham Festival 2024 in an exciting race, giving his trainer Ben Pauling and owner Harry Redknapp a huge victory
After a false start, Glengougly took the early lead just before a shock fall from one of the favourites Theatre Man after the third fence.
Glengougly held his lead going into the 6th fence before Frero Banbou went ahead. Faint Felicien fell after the fourth fence.
Shakem Up’arry took the lead with just two fences to go storming ahead and holding his lead over the last fence and home for the win.
“Honestly I don’t have any words!” said Ben Jones, the jockey of Shakem Up’arry.
“This lad gave me my first winner at Cheltenham, and he’s just given me my first festival winner.
“It means so much, I can’t explain how good the team and Mr Redknapp have been to me, what a thrill!”
