Tiger Roll has won the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase, his fifth success at the Cheltenham Festival.
The two-time Grand National winner (9/2) made his way in front at the halfway mark, and thrashed favourite Easysland (evens) by 15 lengths. Some Neck (17/2) came third.
A mistake at the eighth fence began what was a poor afternoon for Easysland, who had won this race last year.
Despite this, Tiger Roll retook the Glenfarclas crown for the third time, reversing a 17 lengths defeat last time into a storming triumph on Wednesday, in what could be his final rice after being pulled out of Aintree next month.
Rachael Blackmore was unseated for the second time today, on Balko Des Flos (6/1), having gone down in the 13.55 on Eklat De Rire, despite winning the 13.20 Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle aboard Bob Olinger.
Seven horses failed to finish the mammoth Cross Country Chase, with Le Breuil (9/1) another hotly tipped horse to fall well short.
Tiger Roll’s jockey Keith Donoghue was overwhelmed following his victory and he credited his horse for another massive victory.
He said: “It’s just unbelievable for him to come back and do it again, this horse is amazing he means everything to me, I’m speechless.”
He added: “If it wasn’t for this horse I wouldn’t be riding.”
