“It’s been a long time coming” Joe Parker delighted after scoring first Gloucester City goal of the season.

Gloucester City winger Joe Parker insists the players are a close-knit family despite poor form and feels it’s only a matter of time until results pick up again.

Gloucester City came out 3-0 winners against Braintree Town on Saturday ending a five game run without a win.

Joe Parker felt it was a brilliant performance, “We dominated the first half and kept them from having too many chances and trying to push forward ourselves”

“We were a lot more attacking, and to come out with three goals shows a great performance from the lads.”

Parker got his first goal of the season against Braintree and hope to continue his form, “It was a long time coming, we’ve been unlucky in recent weeks and it felt great to get my first goal, especially here [Meadow Park]”

“More importantly, we can look to take the win back to the league and get back up there.”

Parker feels the league form can pick up, “We have to keep going, the last two away games have been quality and it looks like we could improve, having played very good teams, being unlucky at times to not come out with anything.”

“As long as we can start scoring, keep going as we have already and begin to build more foundations I think we will be absolutely fine.”

Gloucester City face Spennymoor Town on Saturday, after their game on Tuesday against Peterborough Sports was postponed.
