Hansard has died after the second race of the Cheltenham Festival. The horse trained by Gary & Josh Moore suffered a serious injury and couldn’t be saved by the veterinary team.
Park Life Sport spoke to PETA earlier today, who urged the British public not to attend any Horse Racing.
A statement from The Jockey Club reads: “While running on the flat Hansard sustained a fatal injury, he was dismounted and attended by a team of professionals.”

ITV’s Ed Chamberlain delivered a further update live, stating: “While running on the flat in the second race of the day, Hansard sustained a fatal injury. He was quickly dismounted, immediately attended by a team of expert veterinary professionals, and their assessment concluded that the best course of action for the horse’s welfare was for him to be put down.”
Since 2000, the racing industry has invested more than £63 million in equine welfare, including veterinary science, education and research.
Hansard is the 79th death at Cheltenham since 2000.
