Breaking: F1 season postponed until May

The Formula 1 season will be postponed until May following the coronavirus outbreak as the Bahrain and Vietnam Grands Prix have also been cancelled.

The 2020 season was set to get underway on Sunday with the Australian Grand Prix and the Chinese race had already been called off.

However, that was cancelled after a member of staff at the McLaren team contracted the virus and the constructor pulled out of the season opener.

The second and third races of the season have joined the growing list of events to be cancelled as the world attempts to bring the virus under control.

The season is expected to restart at the end of May, which would make the Monaco Grand Prix the most viable race to open the season but this will be regularly reviewed.
