CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL RACE 1 REPORT – The New Lion edges past The Yellow Clay to win the Turners Novices’ Hurdle

The New Lion wins the Turners Novices’ Hurdle beating The Yellow Clay on the straight.

What a race by The New Lion, jockey Harry Skelton with a calm ride throughout. Skelton managed to push him with two hurdles to go and proved too strong for his competitors to win the first race of day two at Cheltenham festival.

Jockey Harry Skelton was pleased with the New Lion’s performance:

“I’m just delighted he’s come here and done it on the day.

“Ever since I rode this horse as a three year old, the first day I rode him I just thought there is something different about him.

“It’s a big team effort, and I am the man who gets to come up and talk in front of that (crowd) this place is magic.”
