West Brom striker Josh Maja has revealed a return date from his recent injury after spending the last month on the sidelines.
After tearing his ankle ligaments in the latter stages of the Baggies 0-0 draw to Bristol City in September, Maja has been frustratingly waiting on the sidelines, but is now only “three weeks away” from a return.
“When you’re injured you must be focused and consistent,” said Maja speaking to Park Life Sport. “Approach each day with the mindset and curiosity to improve. Doing that will have a big impact.”
The 24-year-old first appeared on the scene for Sunderland in 2018, scoring 16 goals in 30 league appearances before a departure to French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux in January 2019.
The Nigerian international had a tough time in France as he struggled to perform on a consistent level, leading to loan spells with Fulham and Stoke.
However, last season saw his best return for the French side, scoring 16 goals and assisting six in 38 Ligue 2 matches before a summer switch to West Brom after the expiry of his contract.
Maja only managed to get five appearances under his belt in the West Midlands before his injury, but respects that it’s just part of the game.
“Be grateful and don’t play the victim,” said Maja. “Injuries are a part of the game. You will be doing that you love again soon so enjoy the present moment.”
If all continues to go well in Maja’s rehabilitation, he should be in contention to return after November’s international break for West Brom’s home match to Ipswich on Saturday the 25th November.
