With Willie Mullins just three wins away from bringing up the first ever Cheltenham Festival century with 100 wins, let’s look back at some other famous 100 marks from around Gloucestershire.
Staying in horse racing, it’s the 100th year of the Gold Cup this year, with the centenary coming up on Friday, who has been the most successful over the 99 runnings of the event.
Tom Dreaper is the only trainer to have won the prize five times, across three horses, Prince Regent (1946), Arkle (1964, 1965 and 1966), and Fort Leney in 1968.
The most successful jockey is Pat Taaffe who worked with Dreaper, and won the even four times, three with Arkle, and then Fort Leney two years later.
While the best horse is Golden Miller, who won five straight between 1932-1936.
A century of centuries
While at Gloucestershire Cricket Club, W.G Grace become the first person to reach the tally of 100 first-class centuries in 1985, 49 of them coming for the county.
Grace played in the first ever first class game for Gloucestershire in 1870, where they faced Surrey.
In their first ever innings, they barely scrapped past 100, reaching a total of 106 after 80.3 overs. Grace top scored in the innings with a grand total of 26 runs.
Gloucestershire football is riddled with 100 marks.
All Cheltenham Town fans will remember the 2015/2016 season, when the Robins crossed the 100 points tally for the first time and so far only time in their history.
Cheltenham have also had five players who have passed 100 goals for the club, Dave Lewis (290), Jimmy Smith (131), Jason Eaton (115), Peter ‘Cowboy’ Cleland (109), Gerald Horlick (107), and Mark Boyland (101).

Another famous 100 revolving around goals and the Robins is Clive Walker, who became the first man to score 100 football league, and 100 non-league goals during his time at CTFC.
In terms of total goals screeded in a season, Cheltenham have only passed the mark once, in the 1957/58 season, as they reached they reached 115 but only managed to finish sixth.
While Gloucester City have also only managed the tally once, when they scored exactly 100 in the 1968/69 campaign.
Bishop’s Cleeve were a lot more successful in the seasons where they reached a century of goals. In both 2005/2006 and 2021/22, they passed the total and achieved promotion from the Hellenic Premier Division, under the management of Paul Collicutt.

While FGR have never reached the total, a significant century for them is club icon, Christian Doidge made exactly 100 appearances during his first spell at the club.
Those were just some of the significant 100s around the county, with Mullins looking to add his name to the list.
