The University of Gloucestershire Gladiators American football team travel north to face rivals the Worcester Royals this weekend.
The Gladiators are looking to get their season back on track after losing their opening game of the season by six points to 12 against Tarranau Aberystwyth in the BUCS South West Division two, three weeks ago.
Worcester are looking to improve their fortunes drastically after a disappointing 60-0 loss to Aberystwyth in their first game of 2023 last weekend.
Gladiators have been victorious in the last two games with a 52-7 score in February but mainly their varsity victory in a closer encounter in March finishing 12-6 to the University of Gloucestershire.
With both sides suffering defeats on their opening game it’s a chance for the rivalry to come into effect, UOG’s Harvey Sutcliffe has said his side are ready for the encounter.
“We’re really looking forward to the match against Worcester, it’s always a good game against them, and it’s always good to get one up on your rivals.”
The Gladiators will use this as a starter for when Varsity rolls around in March, whereas The Royals will need a huge recovery having not scored a touchdown in their first game.
Kick-off is on Sunday 19th November 1pm at the Droitwich Spa Rugby Club for this BUCS South Western encounter.
