Theodore Wallich is your average French University student, that is also a darts fan. But after attending an audition in London, he was given the chance to win a life-changing £501,000.
‘Beat Luke Littler’ took place in Manchester on Friday night, where 20 amateur darts players were given a leg of darts against world champion Luke Littler.
Wallich was unsuccessful, getting down to 233 points when ‘The Nuke’ checked out the leg. Wallich was still very grateful for the experience.
“That was an incredible day because, yeah, as you can see, it’s a great event organised by Netflix. I discover all the contenders two days before.”
‘The Moustache Kid’ travelled by plane from Brittany to Manchester to take part in the competition.
“It was not so long because it’s just one hour of plane. But yeah, I take the train to go to the airport,
and that was nice. That’s really cool because Netflix pay for the hotel, the plane and all.
“It was a really great chance for me because when I go to Manchester for the casting, it’s my first time in the United Kingdom and in England and it was really nice to discover Manchester, English people, and English darts player too.”
Despite the thousands in the arena and the hundreds of thousands watching the Netflix special, Wallich says that he was more excited than nervous.
“I think, because I was really prepared to have some pleasure on stage, to live the moment.
“To be cool when the welcome happens and it’s crazy to be on stage and see all the people in the arena. It’s also crazy because the production said to us the number of people who were watching on Netflix on the time of the live.”
All contenders only met Littler on stage, but Wallich gave praise to the 18-year-old.
“I just met him on the stage. We don’t see him before. But yeah, he was cool.
“We had good words when we were on stage. He had a smile. And yeah, he’s so young and that’s crazy because at this age to be like this and to be two time world champion, that’s crazy.”
‘Queen of the palace’ Fallon Sherrock went home with the £501,000 after beating Littler, causing some upset from fans, due to Sherrock’s former stage presence after getting to the third round of the World Championships in 2019.
The special saw over 200,000 darts fans tune in at home. Netflix have not made it apparent that there is another show on the way, but in a post-event interview Luke Littler said he would love to do it again.
