Spotify owner interested in Arsenal takeover

Swedish Billionaire Daniel Ek has proposed his intentions to buy Arsenal Football Club on social media.

Just over a week after the proposed European Super League was announced, the drama continues in North London as multibillionaire Daniel Ek has issued his plans to take over Arsenal Football Club and move on current owners Stan and Josh Kroenke.

On Saturday April 24, Ek put out a tweet confessing his loves for the club and how he has been a long term admirer of the Gunners.

Who is Daniel Ek?

Daniel Ek is the co-founder and CEO of the music streaming company Spotify, with a current net worth of around $4.7 Billion. On Saturday the Swede published a statement of interest on Twitter which read:

“As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for Arsenal as long as I can remember, If KSE would like to sell Arsenal, I’d be happy to throw my hat in the ring.”

It seems as though the Spotify owner is looking for another track to add to his playlist. His tweet was welcomed with open arms by Arsenal fans who are finally hoping of a change in ownership to give their club a fresh start.

The gunners suffered a 1-0 defeat to Everton on Friday night, with the evening’s main focus on the events which occurred outside the stadium rather than in it.

Arsenal fans gathered in their thousands outside Emirates Stadium to make their voices heard in mass Kroenke out protest in attempt to force the owners to sell and give back the fans beloved club.

Incoming takeover bid?

The Swedish billionaire’s attempts started out as rumour and speculation. How ever, as time passed news of the takeover came thick and fast and was registered by the media as serious bid for Arsenal football club. Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph reported this ‘very real’ bid and that Gunners’ legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Viera had joined Ek in his attempts to buy the club.

A seemingly perfect scenario began to form in the minds of Arsenal fans with some of the clubs most loved and idolised players in the driving seat to take their club back to the very top of both English and European football.

ITV news have recently reported the first potential bid is imminent.

“ITV News understands that an official announcement of a £1.8bn takeover attempt of the north London club could come soon.”

Arsenal fans need to allow time for any changes and decisions to be made, they cannot expect an instant change if this bid does materialise. The Kroenke family will most definitely want to get as much money as possible for the club should they decide to sell.

The potential first bid from the Spotify owner will test the waters and inform Stan Kroenke of his serious intentions to takeover the North London outfit
