It is just under a year since Mikel Arteta became the Gunner’s manager and there is already speculation of the Spaniard losing his job.
Arsenal suffered yet another defeat in the Premier League at the hands of fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s North London Derby. The Reds have lost six games so far this season, making it their worst ever league start 39 years.
Arsenal dominated possession and territory throughout the game, but they were unable to fire in attack or fashion clear-cut chances. Arteta’s side have now only managed two goals in seven league matches this season and currently find themselves sitting in 15th place.
“I have to support the players, keep fighting and keep going – there is not any other way,” Arteta told Sky Sports.
“But I saw a team. I saw my team full of desire, passion, dominating the game, creating all the chances, all the situations, but in the end it is about the end product and this is why they are first in the table.”
Whilst the Arsenal manager still has the full support of the club’s board of directors and most of his players, there are many doubters out there including a certain German playmaker in the form of Mesut Ozil.
The No.10 has not played for Arteta’s side since the coronavirus outbreak, playing in one of their last games against West Ham before the national lockdown, but has only made the match-day squad twice since then.

After the league resumption, the German was frozen out completely by the Arsenal boss and appears unlikely to play for the Gunners again.
The midfielder looked to twitter to take a swipe at Arteta, posting a picture of himself at Emirates Stadium last year with the crowd behind him, saying: “The feeling of having fans behind you… #grateful #bestfans #hardtimes.”
In the absence of the 30-year-old, Arsenal have lost creativity in the midfield, which many fans are unhappy about and point the finger towards the Gunner’s boss.
Arteta has transformed his team’s back line, which was what he was brought in to do, but Arsenal fans are still hoping their manager can present better results.
