Mike Ford Finally gets Evesham United First Three Points of the Season

Evesham United secured their first three points of the season on Saturday after overcoming Bashley 2-0.

Manager Mike Ford expressed his delight at his sides performance.

“In the first half we played some really good stuff, got the ball on the floor but probably didn’t work the keeper enough.”

Ford Continued,”We played like a team full of confidence, on the front foot and gradually wore them down. Even when the game become a bit more even we were better and looked untroubled.”

One of the standout players for Evesham was debutant Keon Sanniola, on-loan from Forest Green Rovers the youngman picked up an assist and Ford was full of praise.

“He definitely made us better, I thought he allowed us to change into a back for and we were excellent in playing like that, but the kid was brilliant.”

“It’s probably the first time the kid’s had to fight for three points in his life.”

It was a quick turnaround for this fixture as the two teams met in the FA Trophy, with Bashley progressing on penalties, and Ford was thoroughly impressed with his sides performance this time around.

“Last time we let the game get really scrappy and took our foot of the gas, we made the players aware at half-time that they will turn up and they did, they changed their mentality and their shape but we remained in control.”

“People keep asking me whats wrong? Why isn’t it working? I just keep saying don’t worry, its all going to work.”

There was a change of Captaincy for Ford on Saturday with Amer Awadh taking the armband instead of club captain Charlie Wise who was out with suspension.

Speaking on the decision Ford explained “Charlie isn’t quite the player that he was last season and I thought that the role of captain was playing heavily on him so we just want him to get back playing his best without any pressure.”

Subsequently, since the decision Wise has left the club without any further information as to where he is going.
