Gloucester City fell short on Saturday 2-0 to a play-off competing side Chorley in which Gloucester City Manager Mike Cook said his side are ‘‘physically way off it’’.
The two goals scored of Chorley came in quick succession during the first half which decided the outcome of the fixture.
Cook believes his side could have shown more character in the game and failed to apply the pressure on the visitors.
‘’We made them look a little bit better than they were’’ said the manager.
Despite being currently placed 21st, Gloucester City boss thinks the side can compete and achieve results against the teams higher up the table.
The Tigers have been struggling since the beginning, achieving one win so far this season and only accumulating disappointing eight points in total.
‘’People are not available for training and that doesn’t work for us’’.
Cook believes that it is hard to build something when too many players can’t train and ‘‘only available for matchdays.”
“You must influence the game in 90 minutes, normally if you can’t at any other club, you can’t go out onto the pitch’’.
The Tigers manager believes that an influx of transfers could help the side in depth and performance.
However, it is recognised that bringing players in at this point of the season is much more difficult than the summer.
Gloucester City are facing Southport FC away on Saturday in which they’ll be looking to pick up points.
Southport claimed a 3-2 victory in their last game against Bishop’s Stortford.
The boss has told ‘’Few players don’t look fit’’ for the fixture.
