MATCH PREVIEW: Sale Sharks V Gloucester Rugby

Gloucester Rugby travel to the AJ Bell stadium to face Sale Sharks in a mid-table clash in the Gallagher Premiership this afternoon.

The Cherry and Whites are looking to complete their first league double over Sale since the 2016/17 season, as they were victorious in a narrow 33-32 victory over the Sharks at Kingsholm back in October.

Sale Sharks are winless in their last two Premiership games (D1 L1) – the only time they’ve gone three matches without a win this season was during a run between September and October 2021 in which Gloucester beat them.

With Gloucester in sixth position just one place ahead of today’s hots, head coach George Skivington has warned his team of their oppositions threat saying: “We’re very respectful of Sale. It’s a tough place to go and they are in good form. They’ve got a very big pack and a lot of skill behind that. It’s a big challenge for us but we’re very focused and we’re very clear on where we need to improve our team to keep pushing on so it’s an exciting challenge for us.”

With star man Louis Rees-Zammit away with Wales at the Six Nations, he remains unavailable for Skivington’s men. Gloucester have four players on international duty in total, including Chris Harris, Adam Hastings and Giorgi Kveseladze.

George Barton is brought into the team at 10 with Hastings having been called up to the Scotland squad and Lewis Ludlow returns from England duty to captain the side. Louis Hillman-Cooper could make his Premiership debut if he comes on from the bench with Bryan O’Connor and Alex Morgan set to make their first Premiership appearances of the season if they are used.

Kick off is scheduled for 15:00pm GMT British time.
