Marine Nationale’s late comeback steals the win off favourite Facile Vega.

Marine Nationale had the perfect start to the Cheltenham Festival with jockey Michael O’Sullivan getting his first ever win at Cheltenham.

He was followed closely by the favourite Facile Vega who led from the 12th furlong until a late comeback from Marine Nationale.

The turning point from Facile Vega came on the last hurdle after failing to land cleanly, leaving several punters frustrated.

Trainer Barry Connell was delighted with O’Sullivan, describing him as a ‘future star’.
