Live Blog: University of Gloucestershire extend Varsity lead, Forest Green Rovers top scorer Matty Stevens out for rest of season with ACL injury and The Hundred Draft taking place

Good afternoon, and welcome to today’s Park Life Sport live blog. The University of Gloucestershire have now extended their lead in this year’s Varsity to 6-4, after a win over The University of Worcester in the women’s hockey this afternoon.

Tennis, Women’s Futsal and Trampolining are still to come on. Today is a pivotal day which could easily turn the tide in favour of both Universities. We know we’d rather be a cheese than a sauce!

We’ve also heard from Forest Green Rovers head coach Rob Edwards, who has delivered bad news, with top scorer Matty Stevens set for a length spell on the side-lines after picking up an ACL injury.

Striker Josh March is set to replace Stevens, and he’s told Park Life Sport that he’s raring to go against The Stags.

Gloucester City Queens dropped their 10th straight game as they suffered an 81-58 defeat at the hands of Newcastle Eagles in the Vertu Motors Arena.

The Hundred is also looking forward to its second season of action with today’s draft a big indicator of what teams could be fighting for supremacy. Last year’s Men’s winners Southern Brave and Women’s winners Oval Invincibles will look to defend their crowns. Elsewhere in cricket, Gloucestershire batsman Glenn Phillips will look to score big for Sunrisers Hyderabad alongside former Gloucestershire man and current New Zealand captain Kane Williamson.
