LIVE BLOG – Cheltenham Festival begins! Golden Ace wins Champion Hurdle as Constitution Hill and State Man fall

Golden Ace won the Champion Hurdle as the odds on favourite Constitution Hill and second favourite State Man both fell.

Willie Mullins and Paul Townend won two races, with Kopek Des Bordes and Lossiemouth in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and the Mares’ Hurdle.

The Charlie McCarthy-owned horse Kopek Des Bordes won an emotionally charged Michael O’Sullivan Supreme Novices’ Hurdle becoming Cheltenham 2025’s first winner.

In the second race of the day, Jango Baie stormed through from the back of the field to take advantage of Marjborough’s poor jumping down the straight winning the Arkle Chase.

Patrick Wadge rode Myretown to victory in the 14:20 Ultima Handicap Chase, as we saw multiple fallers in the 24-horse race.

Away from the races, our reports are all over the breaking story as Manchester United announces that they’re moving away from Old Trafford, which has been their home since 1910.
