Jesse Marsch sacked as Leeds United manager after less than 12 months in role

Leeds United have sacked American manager Jesse Marsch after a winless run of seven games, and the club sat in 17th place in the Premier League.

The former RB Leipzig manager has been dismissed following a 1-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday.

He took over at Elland Road in February 2022, with the South Yorkshire side in 16th-placed after the popular Marcelo Bielsa was sacked.

Leeds won eight of the 31 matches Marsch was at the helm for (losing 14 in total) with the last win coming against AFC Bournemouth in November.

Leeds will now be looking to appoint their ninth manager in eight years, with Bielsa the only manager since Brian McDermott to last more than a full year in the hotseat.

The Whites’ next fixture is a difficult trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Wednesday, February 8.
