Wolverhampton Wanderers travel to newly-promoted Leeds United this evening, hoping to kickstart their season.
Two wins and two losses from four games has defined the Molineux side’s mixed start to the season, with some eye-catching signings in Fabio Silva and Nelson Semedo.
The loss of winger Diogo Jota to Liverpool is a blow, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s team will be hoping for another successful campaign domestically.
We spoke to the Talking Wolves podcast founder Dave Azzopardi (@daveazzopardi) about the game.
How has the season gone so far?
It’s been a slow start for Wolves this season.
The pre-season was far from ideal due to the international break, but the performances have been slightly sluggish. However, we have two wins and two losses, and we could be in a much worse position.
How was Wolves’ transfer window?
It was okay. We’ve strengthened in areas that were needed and added some fantastic prospects like Ait-Nouri and Fabio Silva.
It’ll be interesting to see how they develop.
Focussing on Monday night’s game, who will be Wolves one to watch?
Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore are the big threats that Leeds need to watch out for. If either of them are on the top of their game, it will be a tricky evening for Leeds.
Which opposition players could be a cause for concern?
Rodrigo is a signing that I was quite jealous of; it’ll be interesting to see how he beds in and adapts to the Premier League.
Raphinha is another one who I think could be a huge signing too.
Any predictions for the game?
I always like to back my own team but I know it’s going to be a tough game against Leeds.
I’ll go for a 2-1 Wolves win.
What are your predictions for Wolves this season?
I’m hoping for another top-half finish. Top seven again will be tricky but I think that’s what the club will be aiming for.
